Platelet Rich Fibrinogen (PRF)

PRF Injections

First generation platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments gained some fame/notoriety with the vampire facelift. Platelet-rich fibrinogen (PRF) and concentrated growth factor (CGF) however, are second generation products developed in the last 15 years or so. PRF includes cytokines and various growth factors that increase cell growth, collagen & elastin production, blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) to help with cell nutrition, and cell differentiation. These products are widely used in medicine, perhaps most commonly to help repair muscle/tendon tears in professional athletes.

PRF is a treatment derived from your own blood, in which the red and white cells are removed, and the platelets are concentrated. The resultant fibrinogen, platelets, and bioactive factors are micro-needled in to your skin and are entirely your own, without any synthetic growth factors added. The whole process only takes a few minutes to do.

For the ultimate in revitalisation we can combine PRF as an after treatment following PicoSure Pro laser treatment.

PRF is great for rejuvenating:

✓ Faces

✓ Necks

✓ Decolletage (low neckline/upper chest)

✓ Backs of hands

In fact, pretty much anywhere the skin is becoming thin.

Important: this is a higher-risk cosmetic procedure

PRF/PRP injections are classified as a higher-risk non-surgical cosmetic procedure under AHPRA guidelines (effective 2 September 2025). This classification reflects the medical nature of the procedure and the potential for adverse outcomes. It is not a low-risk or routine treatment.

A consultation and medical assessment with a qualified practitioner is required before any treatment can proceed. Treatment will not be performed at the same appointment as your initial consultation, a cooling-off period applies, and you are not obligated to proceed after your consultation.

Risks and considerations

As with all injectable procedures, there are risks associated with PRF treatment. These include bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness at the treatment site. Infection, scarring, and asymmetry are less common but possible. Some patients do not experience a noticeable change in skin appearance. Individual results vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Your complete medical history, current medications, and any known allergies must be disclosed at your consultation. This information is essential to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.
