Thread Lift at MedExl
Thread Lifts at MedExl
A thread lift procedure at MedExl can be beneficial for those wanting to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and early jowls. It can also reduce the appearance of sagging skin.
PDO (Polydioxanone) threads (lengths of surgical stitch material) with tiny barbs along it’s length are ‘injected’ in to a layer just deep to the skin but above the muscle (the SMAS layer). These are positioned to provide a gentle, refined lift to the skin without a stretched appearance. Many patients report they cannot feel the sutures once healing is complete, though individual experiences vary.
The threads are absorbed over a period of 6 months or so and whilst in place a healing response will be activated to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. The new collagen will remain long after the thread has been absorbed.
Patients may notice an immediate improvement in appearance, with further improvements as collagen production increases over subsequent weeks and most patients experience minimal downtime and no visible scarring. Whilst some will experience a little bit of soreness, redness and swelling after having a thread lift many can return to work the same day. Strong pain medication is seldom needed after having a thread lift, making it easier to return to normal routine.
Thread lifts are best suited to patients who are dealing with mild to moderate, rather than severe signs of skin laxity. Thread lifts can, however, provide a facelift alternative for older patients who are unable or don’t wish to have surgery.
